Our Adventure

The Main Street House is the most spontaneous thing The Husband and I have ever done. We joke that this very well may have been our mid-life crisis, let's hope is is closer to a (in the words of John Mayer) quarter-life crisis.

The Main Street House is located across the street from First United Methodist Church, where my Oldest Daughter went to pre-school.  What that meant is that I drove past this house every Wednesday-Friday for the 2009-2010 School Year.

For a few months, I had been toying with the idea SOMEDAY opening a shop in the Historic District of our wonderful town.  Since I had made the commitment to be a stay-at-home-mom, that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, but hey it was fun to think about.

I had mentioned to The Husband that The Main Street House was for sale and it would be a cute place for a shop.  Obviously, I had already checked out the listing online and had an idea of what it looked like.  I was quite surprised when The Husband said to me "let's drive up and take a look at it".  Thinking that we would just peek in the windows, we came across a sign from the realtor hanging on the door that told us he lived just down the street and if you called his cell phone number, he would come down and let us in.  So, on a very hot July day we called this gentleman and had him take us on a tour of The Main Street House.

A week later we made an offer, put our current house on the market and began this wonderful adventure.
